Frederick, 97, of Griswold, IA, died
Friday Morning, May 30, 2008, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold.
Mildred Marie Hoegh Frederick, the daughter of George
W. and Annie Hoogensen Hoegh was born May 18, 1911, in Oakfield Twp. Audubon
Co. in their farm home. Milly had resided at the Griswold Care Center for 2 ‡
years where she died May 30, 2008, at the age of 97 years, 12 days.
Milly was baptized and confirmed at the Oak Hill Danish Lutheran church west of Brayton and attended the rural school in Brayton and the Oakfield Academy at Oakfield. She graduated from Exira High School with the class of 1929 and on May 23, 1932, was united in marriage to Marvin Dale Frederick at the Swedish Lutheran Church parsonage in Moline, IL. They lived in Brayton, Exira and Atlantic. Marvin died November 17, 1971. Milly was a teacher in the rural schools in Cass and Audubon Counties; the last school she taught was in Kimballton. For several years she was parish secretary at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Atlantic, and later lived in the Mullen Funeral Home apartment in Anita until returning to live in Exira in 1987. In 1996 she moved to Griswold to be near her family. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold.
Milly
was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Evalyn (Lester)
Nelson, two brothers Raymond Hoegh and his wife Ethel, Harvey Hoegh and his
wife Anna, her son-in-law Dennis Petersen, her daughter-in-law Sandra Frederick
and one niece, Elaine Nelson Callahan.
Survivors include her children: Shirley (Royal) Bierbaum, Griswold; Judy (Jim) Hopson, Sun City, AZ; and Gary Frederick, Marion, IA; her ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren: Michael (Carolee) Petersen and their children Michael, Kathleen and Caroline, Flower Mound, TX; Steven (Diane) Petersen and their daughters Hallie, Katie, and Cassadie, Nixa, MO; Julie (Robert) McKenna and their daughters Alyssa and Aundrea, Virginia Beach, VA; Jane (Mark) Gordon and their children Shelby and Garrett, Republic, MO; Cindy Howe of Sun City, AZ and her sons Donnie of Lucas, IA and Steven of Fort Dodge, IA; Amy (Matt) Hussel and their sons Isaac and Ethan, Marion, IA; Adam (Amy) Frederick and their son Ashton, Ankeny, IA; Mary Beth (Greg) Olander and their daughters Jenna and Jessica, Des Moines, IA; John (Sandy) Bierbaum and their sons Curtis and J.J., Griswold; and Brent (Marsha) Bierbaum and their children Rachel, Adam and Joshua, Griswold. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive Milly.
She
was the last survivor of the George W. Hoegh & Albert J. Frederick
immediate families.
Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM at St. Paulís
Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Pastors Dennis Meyer and Celeste Waymire
officiating. Burial will be in the
Oak Hill Cemetery west of Brayton.
Open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold and
the family will be present from 6:00 to 7:30 Tuesday evening.
