Ople Morris,
93, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Griswold, died early Sunday morning, April 13,
2008 at Parsons House Assisted Living Facility in Omaha. Ople had just recently
moved there from Griswold to be near his daughter.
Ople
Ottmer Morris was born on May 4, 1914 at Nehawka, NE, in Otto County north of
Nebraska City, the son of Silas and Veronica ³Frone² (Gude) Morris. He attended
rural schools in Otto County. On
December 31, 1937, he married Ruby Leddy at Papillion, NE. They farmed at Ashland, NE and in 1942
moved to Murray, NE and then in 1971 moved southeast of Griswold. Ruby died in 1983. Ople continued to farm until his
retirement and moved to the Griswold Assisted Living in the Fall of 2004. Ople was a member of the Central Church
of Christ in Griswold and a member of the Griswold Optimist Club.
Survivors
include his sons and daughters: Betty Vignali (Wilbur) of Wilmington, NC, Gary
Morris of Plattsmouth, NE, Janice Moore (Jerry) of Omaha, John Morris of
Plattsmouth and Joyce Bynum (Jerry) of Clover, SC; his 10 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren. Also
surviving are his brothers and sisters: Dorothy Carnicle of Ashland, Edward
Morris of Ashland, Lorraine Hostetter of Murray, NE and Don Morris of Columbus,
NE.
Preceding
Ople in death were his parents, his wife Ruby and two sisters, Verona Robbins
and Mary Scott.
Funeral
services will be on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Central Church
of Christ in Griswold. Interment
will be also on Thursday at 2:30 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery at Plattsmouth,
NE. Open visitation will be at the
Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold until 3:00 PM Wednesday at which time it will be
at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold. The family will be present at the church from 6:30 to 7:30
Wednesday evening. Duhn Funeral
Home in Griswold is assisting the family with the arrangements.
