Here is a pictorial view of SOME of the work that has gone into renovating the Cass County Museum this last year.
This is the old bank, now fondly known as building #1.
This is building #2.
First task is to sort and determine the value of the existing contents of the Museum.
As you can see this was a rather large task!
A lot of hard labor went into this chore.
Layers of wallpaper shown in building #1.
Now where to store everything while renovating. Shelves were brought in and placed in the upstairs of building #1.
Now the contents will be safely stored while the project continues.
Once everything was "shifted" to the upstairs for safekeeping, it was time to come up with a plan for the next step. Many of the members visited other museums in Southwest Iowa to gather information and to look at the different ways to set up our Museum. They also sought advice from experts in this field.

That is when the grant committtee went to work! Grants, Grants and more Grants to help in financing the restoration. Once they were awarded the Iowa West Grant, there was no stopping them!

A healthly contribution from the Cass County Supervisors was also a great boost in developing the vision for the Cass County Museum.

NOW -- LET THE HARD WORK AND ELBOW GREASE BEGIN!!!
KEEP CHECKING MORE PICTURES WILL BE ADDED.

THE MUSEUM PLANS ON BEING OPEN FOR PUBLIC VIEWING DURING THE SOLDIERS REUNION, JULY 8 AND 9, 2006
