Ron Thayer, 76, of Griswold, IA died Thursday morning, July 17, 2008 at his home in Griswold.¬Ý

Ronald Charles Thayer was born on November 2, 1931 at Turin, IA, the son of William and Naomi (King) Thayer.  He attended schools there and after his schooling worked as a farm hand.  He moved to Omaha and was employed there as an auto-diesel mechanic.  He later lived in Spring Valley, CA and was an over the road trucker.  He moved to Griswold in 1986 and owned and operated Thayer Trucking retireing in 2001.  Ron was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. 

         Survivors include his children, Pamela K. Thayer of Griswold, Rhonda Jean Thayer Smith of Omaha and Ronald Charles Thayer II and wife Robin of Omaha; his grandchildren, Crystal Jenn (Jason) Lechleitner of Grand Island, NE, Lee Charles Smith, Glenda Jean Smith, Matthew Ross Thayer and Amanda Lee Thayer all of Omaha.  Also surviving are 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, his former wife Betty Lou Thayer of Spring Valley, CA, and his brother Rex Thayer of Painted Post, NY.

         His parents and sister, Prudie Gilligan preceded Ron in death.

 

         Ron¹ wishes were to be cremated and no services be held.  Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family in carrying out those wishes.
