The Griswold Care Center was built in 1963 in the form of a T, with red brick of Colonial design. Mr. and Mrs. Joel Martens opened the 40 bed Intermediate Care facility in October of 1963. At that time it was known as Martens Manor.

Many changes and improvements have occurred over the past 41 years. In 1976 the facility was sold to Jim and Ron Armstrong and they added 6 resident beds and changed the name to The Griswold Care Center.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hinz purchased the facility in 1983 and are the present owners. In 1986 a new wing was added between the north and east wing in which the present 6 resident beds were moved and 16 additional beds were added, making a total of 40 Intermediate Care beds and 22 Residential beds. The following year 12 of the Residential beds were converted to ICF beds and in 1988 the remaining 10 beds were also converted to ICF beds.

A new modern kitchen, dining room, and offices were added in 1997, which provided for an activity room in the former dining room. At this same time other spaces were converted into a family - visiting room, conference room, laundry room and large shower room.

April 2004 will be the grand opening of the new Assisted Living Wing. A very beautiful and modern facility has 10 apartments and will accommodate 20 residents.
