The Historical Society bought the old First National Bank Building at the corner of Cass and Main Street on
Oct. 9, 1963. Rex Powers was president of the society. They started accepting articles for loan or donation on Oct. 14, 1963.  The museum contained many interesting articles including a desk once belonging to F. H. Whitney, founder of Griswold.
